I chose to write about this because I used to be in engineering and noticed that there were virtually no girls. As I started to explore different majors, I noticed the difference in gender ratio.
The dynamics in the classroom was also different. It was nice to get some female insight on certain subjects. In engineering, whenever we were in groups to do projects, there was a lot of agreeing because we were all guys and we thought alike. We collectively didn't care how or what we did, we all just wanted to get it over with and get a good grade. It was different with girls in the group. Each person had a role and we met as a group more than just the day before the due date. I felt like I had to do a better job than usual to actually make contributions to the group. I don't know what it is, but I aim to get a better understanding of this with this project.
